Cash registers and data terminals for retailers have sure come a long way over the years. Prior to entering the SatCom industry, I worked in the Point-of-Sale industry for almost 20 years and saw first-hand the evolution that has taken place over the past two decades. X2nSat recently participated in the Retail Systems Providers Association (RSPA) RetailNOW! Trade show in Las Vegas. It was exciting to see the continuing convergence of these two industries in our third consecutive year in attendance.

As the predominant POS industry association in North America, RSPA has continued to raise the bar and make their trade shows must-attend events for industry professionals. With analog dial-up backup services nearing end of life, the industry is rapidly shifting to cloud-based solutions and reliable payment systems. Our team was excited about the steady stream of attendees who were interested in the range of products and services X2nSat provides in this space.

Of particular interest were our Flexcom products due to their ability to provide primary communications for debit and credit card processing at prices comparable to dial-up options during communication failures. The hurricanes, earthquakes and other natural disasters many are dealing with underscore the need to have primary and backup connections that will survive in these scenarios. In reality, large-scale disaster is not the most likely threat to interrupt communications for a business. A local fiber cut can be wildly disruptive to any retailer if they do not have an effective backup plan in place.

Resellers were particularly interested in these options due to the ease of installation of the hardware. Most existing technical support teams will be more than capable to provide this service to customers. We also saw a very positive response to the affordable price point of our hardware. This will allow resellers to make a solid margin in addition to the revenue generated from data plans. At the show we were able to jump-start several new significant reseller opportunities that we are very excited about. Las Vegas is always a fun and exciting place to visit, but from our perspective all the action was not at the craps table, but on the convention hall floor at RetailNOW! We are already looking forward to attending their next event.
