X2nSat is hitting the ground running in 2018! Just a few, short weeks ago my colleague, Jena Blazer and I attended the Distributech trade show in San Antonio, Texas. This is the must-attend event for electric, gas, and utilities professionals seeking to learn about the newest technological advancements that are shaping the future of this industry. The same is true for the 520+ companies like X2nSat that had set-up their booths on the floor of the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center eager to share their latest and greatest offerings with ~14,000 attendees over three days in the Alamo city.

From the onset, the energy level was high and the convention center floor was buzzing with energy and conversation about any and all aspects of utilities/smart grid technologies. In addition to meeting with innumerable, high quality prospects throughout the event, we also ran into some friendly faces of long-time customers that we got to spend time with as well. There seemed to be opportunities to meet new people everywhere we went throughout our brief stay in San Antonio. Even at the airport as we were at the gate waiting to board our flight home, I had a chance to network with another Distributech-er and exchange a final business card.

Keeping busy at the booth!

Not only were the attendees and other vendors friendly and happy to be there, but the city of San Antonio was also welcoming and a fun place to combine work with a bit of fun. The riverwalk was as advertised: lots of ambiance and patios to relax on while watching the gondolas drift by as tourists enjoyed an evening walk along the river. We made sure to make a pit stop at the Esquire Tavern, the oldest bar on the Riverwalk established in 1933 (if you go, get the chalupitas!).

Sightseeing a bit after hours was a nice way to recharge, but we had come to town to do business and let people know about our full range of capabilities. The star of the show from our suite of services was X2nSat’s FlexCom solutions, both fixed and mobile. There was great interest from the network architects and solutions engineers in attendance for new and better ways to service their most remote rural customers.

Some of our newest cutting-edge products

X2nSat’s comprehensive North American coverage area also impressed many visitors through the show. Our VSAT solutions were also of special interest amongst the operations with substations where terrestrial or cellular technologies just aren’t an option. Of course Business Continuity/Redundancy is always a hot topic at all the trade shows we attend and DistribuTECH was no exception. For critical sites that can never be down for any reason you must have a plan that covers all natural and man-made disaster scenarios.

The Alamo

When all is said and done, a trip to San Antonio would not be complete without a visit to the Alamo. If you have never been, you might be surprised at how small it seems as the city has swallowed up all the space around the original footprint of this Mission. It is a beautiful and iconic building. Returning home to Petaluma after a whirlwind trip is always pleasant, but we are extremely excited to follow-up with our new relationships formed at DistribuTECH!
