Normally, our CEO, Garrett Hill utilizes this column to share his thoughts on topics relevant to our organization or the industry as a whole. We had some exciting news announced last week and as the Director of Marketing here at X2nSat, I thought I would elaborate on the press release announcing our expansion in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

This new facility represents our third location in addition to our headquarters in Petaluma, California and redundant satellite gateway in Georgia. This location will eventually include a ground station, network operations center, and logistics facility. Establishing this site further adds to our level of redundancy and our ability to maintain service continuity while providing disaster recovery solutions to our clients.

I had the privilege of accompanying Garrett along with Tim Aboudara, our Director of Sales and Karen Siembieda, our Director, Program Management to New Mexico last week. While there we received a warm welcome and were hosted by representatives of Governor Susana Martinez’s office, the Mesilla Valley Economic Development Agency (MVEDA), as well as members of the City of Las Cruces city council and mayor’s office. These organizations do a tremendous job of promoting the benefits of their business community and the work and effort of all were a significant factor in X2nSat choosing this location.

Governor Martinez has been extremely proactive about recruiting high-tech businesses to the state of New Mexico since taking office. The Economic Development Department is providing $300,000 in LEDA funds in concert with X2nSat’s investment in this project. We are projecting 45 high-paying technical jobs for the local community over the coming years. Combine this with the additional economic impact of the other goods and services we will utilize, and this makes creates a tremendous win-win-win relationship.

In addition to a very pro-business environment, Las Cruces offered us an ideal climate and geographic location for our new site. The climate here is not only business friendly, but the actual weather is even better for the critical nature of our services in the face of disasters. The dry desert environment, southern location, and predictable weather create a very stable site that is unlikely to feel the wrath of Mother Nature. This will give our clients even greater assurances that we will be able to help them maintain critical communications in any scenario.

X2nSat has been in business for over 20 years. We take pride in being an active part our local community in Sonoma County. We participate in many local Rotary Club programs, support state and local law enforcement groups, and are involved with local food banks and clothing drives. The people we work with are not just our co-workers, they are also our friends and neighbors. We are looking forward to getting to know our new friends and neighbors in our new home of Las Cruces in much the same way.

A final word of additional thanks again to Governor Martinez, Craig Buchannon the Chairman of MVEDA, Las Cruces Mayor Pro Tem Greg Smith, City Councilor Jack Eakman, and all the other friendly people that we met during our visit last week. I look forward to sharing more information about all the great things that are happening with the New Mexico X2nSat family!
